Can I hire one piece of the regalia and purchase another?

Yes! regalia need not be hired or purchased as a total set. For example, you can hire the gown and purchase the hood or vice versa.

Can I borrow regalia from someone else that have previously graduated?

Yes you can as long as the regalia is from Murdoch University (i.e. the gown is in a maroon colour not black) and have the correct colour hood for your degree award.

When do I collect my regalia hire or purchase?

Details of the collection times and venue are provided in the Graduations pack sent to you.

When do I return the regalia and where?

You must return the regalia at the conclusion of the ceremony before leaving the venue. We have staff suitably located at the ceremony venue to collect the return of regalia. There are signs to show the collection station which usually has clothing racks standing nearby.

Is regalia hire or purchase available outside the ceremony times?

Yes, the charges and purchase cost are similar to that during the graduation ceremony. You can arrange hire or purchase through the Alumni Centre on 9360 6668 or email alumni@murdoch.edu.au.

You are encouraged to have your regalia photos taken around the campus or outside the campus as soon as you have collected your regalia during the graduation period so that you avoid paying for the regalia hire twice.

If I had originally hired the regalia and decided after the ceremony or at a later date to purchase the regalia, do I just pay the difference between the hire and purchase prices?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. You can purchase any item of regalia after the ceremony if you wish but unfortunately you will have to pay the full purchase amount. With the change to purchase, you will be given a brand new item and not the hired items you wore on the occasion of the ceremony.

The hire cost you have previously paid needs to be recouped by the Alumni Centre for administrative and dry cleaning expenses. All profits generated from the sale and hire of academic regalia are used to benefit members of the Alumni Association.
